This project was developed by a passionate leadership group member who highlighted the high rates of women who self-harm, who advocated for this high-risk group to be supported through a program that builds them up as individuals in an environment that is designed specifically as a non-clinical yet supportive space.
A working group made up of community members with lived experience and professionals worked together to fully review the available data and statistics, relevant to Ballarat. The group developed a trial program for women aged between 15 and 25.
The program aims to engage women through a range of activities that increase their sense of connectedness, self-confidence, self-regulation and promote help-seeking behavior to reduce the incidence of repeated acts of self-harm that may result in death by suicide.
headspace has developed the finer details of how this program will include and run, they are driving this program and are currently seeking women in this key age range to be part of this amazing program
Develop meaningful connections with other women whilst learning how to build a veggie garden, cooking, self defense, Zumba, dressing for positive body image, just to name some of the activities that are planned for.
For more information please go to key dates, documents, and project contacts.
