Inviting contributions to inform Western Victoria Primary Health Network's submission to shape Australia's new National Suicide Prevention Implementation Strategy

Consultation has concluded

The Government’s new approach to mental health and suicide prevention funding and reform is focussed on person-centred care funded on the basis of need, a regional approach to service planning and integration, effective early intervention across the lifespan and strengthened national leadership.

As one part of making suicide prevention a priority, all governments have committed to drafting a new national suicide prevention strategy for Australia: the National suicide prevention implementation strategy. This strategy will embody the collective aspiration of all governments that fewer lives are lost to suicide and will be supported by every health minister in Australia.

Western Victoria Primary Health Network (PHN) has a key role in suicide prevention in the region. To undertake this work, it leads and supports a range of activities and collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders.

Western Victoria PHN is inviting Board members, Regional Integrated Council (RIC) members, Suicide Prevention Place Based Trial Leadership Group members and Western Victoria PHN staff to contribute to a collective submission.

The consultation document and proposed priority areas are saved in the document library. Please review these documents and provide feedback in the survey below.

Please provide feedback by 12noon Thursday 18 April.

Western Victoria PHN will collate this feedback into a document and publish this on our website www.westvicphn.com.au following close of submissions 1 May 2019.

Western Victoria PHN is offering an organisation wide collective approach to contribute to shaping the National Suicide Prevention Implementation Strategy.

You may also submit an individual response or contribute through your own organisation via the consultation document now available for feedback at the following link: https://www2.health.vic.gov.au/suicide-prevention-strategy.

Western Victoria PHN looks forward to being informed by your feedback or by working alongside providers and community to shape a National Suicide Prevention Implementation Strategy.
